It’s raining here in Nebraska. Last week the temperature hit 87. Today the high is 49. Just typical Midwest things, but it’s making me miss sunshine in California.

I generally dislike photos looking up at trees—they never look as peaceful in photographs as they do in real life. However, this photo is an exception for me. It’s moment that feels like summer. Sunshine, green leaves, fruit and blue skies. It’s the simplicity of this photo I crave; that ability to slow down and look up that I lose so often when I’m at school. It’s always been hard for me to relax and take time to do what makes me happy—I’m constantly struggling with the need to finish all the things I don’t want to do first before I can do anything I like. I end up spending all of my time doing what I hate and crawling into bed at night feeling accomplished but miserable.

And it’s photographs like this that remind me I need to slow down, and look up, and take time to do what makes me happy.

Happy Tuesday, my loves.
