The first night in Vienna we went on a bus/walking tour of the city. It was a frigidly cold night, but Vienna after dark is really quite beautiful. This photo was taken from a look-out of sorts by a statue of some guy on a horse. At this point in the trip it was getting hard to pay attention to every statue, and the building across the street was just too magical to ignore, so I really have no idea as to the significance of this spot, and I’m sure I couldn’t get back.
I love this photo for a lot of reasons, but the colors are one of them. I love the color combinations; the green roof, the red lights on the cars, and the strength of the building. I am captured by the way the light makes every edge and corner of the building so defined and sharp. The scene feels empty, lonely and alive all at once. One of my favorites from the trip.
