This photo was taken on the wall of the Prague Castle. The City sprawls out behind the wall but my focus was on the two girls. Even though the sun was shining, it was still very cold, and the girl in black is crouched behind the wall to get out of the wind. I think the photo itself is a little bright, but I like the color themes. There wall is red, the city behind (even though you can’t see much) is filled with red roofs. The girl’s coat is a bright red, and the evening light is warming the colors and making everything appear more saturated.
I also think the shadows lying across the cobblestones, and the texture of the wall behind the two tourists add to this feeling of old meeting new–a theme Prague holds throughout the city. The brick has been broken and replaced over the hundreds of years since the castle was first constructed, and the girls add context to the size of the wall. The sharp jutting points of the wall break up the horizon and add another layer of interest to the wall.
Cobblestones and bricks and tourists and city skylines. Keep traveling! I would love to hear any fun travel stories or advice that you guys have!
Happy Tuesday!
