Welcome.
I’m just going to start off candidly, as that is how I intend to write this blog, and figure that I should just begin there for everyone’s sake. “Tell me about yourself” has proven to be the hardest interview question I have ever been asked, and I have some doubts that it will ever get any easier than “umm…well I guess I really love [fill in a miscellaneous activity].
So that leads me to this; I’m going to skip the part where I tell you my life story, as that will come throughout my writing, in bits and pieces and broken stories that we will get to later. However, I will leave you with three facts about myself, that will give you the background you need; at least for today.
- I have three items that I will classify as “passions” in my life: Photography, Travel, and Business.
- I have no idea what I am going to do with my business degree. Please stop asking.
- I believe I am almost the only one who thinks that I am funny, and I’ve come to terms with that.
I have been wanting to start a blog for a while now, but have had no idea to start. I planned on getting it going at this date, or that time, and those dates have long passed, bringing me to where I am now—actually starting.
Photojournalism has long been an interest to me, and I love hearing the stories behind photographs—good and bad.
I believe that all photos should tell stories, not because those without stories aren’t good photographs, but because they don’t have soul. I love knowing the gritty details from behind the camera—the coolest shots often have the coolest stories. That being said, not all my stories will have photographs, and not all my photographs will have stories, I’m still learning. Bare with me.
But, here’s to my photographers—those who will do anything for “the” shot—those who stay up late and get up early, those who wait out thunderstorms in foreign countries, those who wait for hours to catch 10 seconds of action. For the thousands of hours of trekking, shooting, uploading and editing. For hours of research on weather conditions and camera gear. Those who are always mentally setting up a shot, and those who see beauty in everything.
But here’s also to those of you who keep thinking “yeah, I’d like to get into photography” those who have no idea what they’re doing, and those who are beginning to find a new passion behind the lens.
I hope that what I am going to bring to you in the future is helpful, entertaining and can inspire you to live your life with passion and a fulfilled heart. Continue chasing light my beautiful humans, and
Welcome to Aperture and Eloquence.
